Refund Policy
Effective Date: May 12, 2026 · Last Updated: May 12, 2026
In plain English
- 14-day free trial — cancel anytime in the first 14 days and you are never charged.
- Forgot to cancel? Email us within 7 days of your first paid charge for a full refund — no questions asked.
- After that 7-day window — no refund on partial-month usage; cancel anytime and you keep access until the end of your current billing period.
- Service outages, accidental double-charges, or wrong add-on purchases — email us and we'll make it right.
- Refunds are processed by our billing provider, Paddle, back to the original payment method.
1. 14-day free trial
Every new BooksNav subscription begins with a 14-day free trial. A valid payment method is required at signup so the subscription can continue seamlessly if you decide to keep using BooksNav, but no charge is made during the trial period.
You may cancel at any point during the 14 days from your account settings. If you cancel before the trial ends, your card is never charged and there is no refund question to resolve. Your account is moved to a limited read-only state at the end of the trial; your data and saved settings are preserved if you choose to re-subscribe later.
2. First paid charge — 7-day money-back guarantee
If your 14-day trial auto-converts to a paid subscription and you decide BooksNav isn't for you, you may request a full refund of your first paid charge within seven (7) calendar days of that charge, for any reason. This applies whether you forgot to cancel during the trial or changed your mind after the first month started.
The 7-day guarantee applies to your first paid charge only — subsequent monthly renewals, upgrades, or re-subscriptions after a previous cancellation are not eligible.
To request a refund under this section, email contact@booksnav.com from the email address on your account within the 7-day window. We will process the refund through Paddle within 5 business days, and the funds will be returned to your original payment method per Paddle's standard processing time (typically 3-10 business days, depending on your card issuer or bank).
3. Cancellation — keep access until period end
You can cancel a paid subscription at any time through your account settings. When you cancel, your access to paid features continues until the end of your current billing period — we do not issue pro-rated refunds for unused portions of a billing period. At the end of the period, your account is moved to a limited read-only state. All your saved searches, pivot configurations, add-on settings, and other data are preserved in case you choose to re-subscribe.
4. No refunds on partial-month usage
Outside of the 7-day first-charge window described in Section 2, BooksNav does not refund partial-month usage. If you cancel mid-period, you keep access until period end; if you cancel after a renewal charge, the charge stands for the renewing period and your cancellation takes effect at the end of that period.
5. Service outages
If BooksNav experiences a significant service outage that materially prevents you from using the paid features you subscribed to (e.g. a multi-day outage caused by something within our reasonable control), email us and we will evaluate a service-credit or refund on a case-by-case basis. Outages caused by upstream provider issues (Intuit, Clerk, Neon, Google Cloud, Paddle) are outside our reasonable control and are not independently grounds for a refund, but we will work with you in good faith if such an outage materially impacts your work.
6. Accidental or duplicate charges
If you believe you have been charged in error, double-charged, or charged after cancellation, email us within thirty (30) days of the charge and we will investigate. Confirmed billing errors are refunded in full. Paddle's own dispute-resolution process is also available to you at any time as the merchant of record.
7. Accidental add-on purchases
If you accidentally added an add-on (such as Spreadsheets Sync or Remittance Advice) that you did not intend to purchase and have not actively used, email us within 7 days of the add-on charge and we will refund it in full. After 7 days, normal cancellation terms apply — you may cancel the add-on at any time and access to that add-on continues until the end of the current billing period.
8. Chargebacks
We prefer to resolve refund requests directly via email — it is faster and avoids the fees and friction of a card chargeback. If you initiate a chargeback before contacting us, your BooksNav account may be suspended pending resolution to prevent further disputed charges. Please reach out first; we will work with you in good faith.
9. Refunds for add-ons
Add-ons (such as Spreadsheets Sync and Remittance Advice) follow the same refund rules as the underlying subscription: no charge during the 14-day trial, 7-day money-back guarantee on the first paid charge for that add-on, and no pro-rated refund on partial-month usage after that window. If you cancel an add-on mid-period, you keep access to it until the end of the current billing period.
10. Currency and tax
Refunds are issued in the same currency as the original charge, for the same amount (less any non-refundable taxes that Paddle has already remitted to the relevant jurisdiction, where applicable). Exchange-rate differences between your charge date and your refund date are not adjusted for.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your charge governs that charge. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page when we make material changes.
12. Contact
For any refund request or billing question, email contact@booksnav.com. Include your account email and a brief description of your request so we can route it quickly.
This Refund Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service.
